Korean mobile operator KT said that it will participate in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, the world’s largest mobile trade show to be held in Barcelona, Spain, from Feb. 22 to 25 (local time). With a theme of “Global 5G Leader,” the company will showcase the world’s best 5G technologies and integrated services.

KT announced on Feb. 17 that it will open a joint exhibition hall with the theme of “Global 5G Leader”, along with other global companies such as AT&T, Groupe Speciale Mobile Association (GSMA), an organization that represents the interest of world’s mobile operators, Sierra and Jasper, at the MWC 2016.

At the event, KT will showcase 5G mobile network technology with 20 Gbps. In addition, it will provide an exhibit space to domestic start-ups, including Ulala Lab, in order to help them extend their businesses abroad.

The company is also planning to release “Wiz Stick”, a portable security platform that fundamentally address hacking problems, like farming, at the network levels, targeting the global security market.

KT chairman Hwang Chang-gyu will also attend the MWC 2016. He is to participate in the GSMA board meeting in Barcelona on Feb. 21, a day ahead of the MWC 2016, to discuss the activation of the ICT ecosystem.

Yoon Jong-jin, head of the public relations division at KT, said, “We will introduce Korea, one of advanced IT strong power, by displaying 5G technologies to be used in the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. KT will make an effort to develop various integrated services, based on the 5G network and GiGA infrastructure, in a bid to create the creative ecosystem.”
