Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Hyundai E&C) hosted the Hyundai E&C Technology Conference 2015 on Nov. 11 to forecast the trend of the latest advanced construction technology and future possibilities.

The event took place at the Novotel Ambassador in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and was attended by 1,000 people, including overseas engineers and industry and academic officials. The Hyundai E&C Technology Conference allows construction workers at home and abroad to share research and development (R&D) results, creative ideas and excellent construction cases.

At the main session, James Taylor, vice president at AECOM, a nuclear decommissioning company with 30 years of expertise, had a lecture on the topic of “Nuclear Decommissioning and Radioactive Decontamination.” Then, Mazen Wahbeh, CEO at Alta Vista Solutions, an engineering consultant firm, talked about project management and risk management.

At the technology session, which was divided into three sectors, including construction, infrastructure and energy and environment, Amund Bruland, a tunnel excavation method expert and professor at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), was a guest speaker. Also, the meeting heard 17 presentations about research results and excellent application examples of Hyundai E&C and Hyundai Motor Group.

Hyundai E&C employs 5,200 engineers, the largest number in the domestic construction industry, and shows the best technical skills. The company has also invested 123 billion won (US$106.4 million) in the R&D sector.
