LG Electronics announced on Sept. 20 that it will introduce the Class, a mid-range smartphone with a metal body, to Korea through three local mobile carriers.

The launching price of the new model will be 399,300 won (US$340), and it is expected to compete with already-popular other phones in the same league, such as SK Telecom's Luna and Samsung's Galaxy A5.

The most notable characteristic of the new handset is that it has a 5" curved glass panel. The color of the upper and lower parts on its metal body at the back are coated differently, which gives the impression that the phone has a sophisticated design. The new model comes in gold, silver, and blue-black.

The Class features a premium-level image sensor similar to that of the G4, a 13 megapixel camera at the back, and another 8 megapixel one at the front.

The fact that the new model is equipped with a non-removable 2050mAh battery is noticeable as well. This is the first time for LG to adopt a non-removable battery for premium or entry-level phones, which can be interpreted as the Android phone maker's endeavor to make a 7.4 mm phone.

There is a special selfie feature called Gesture Interval Shot that lets people initiate a series of four shots in a row at 2-second intervals by holding up one hand and making a fist. The handset also has a Beauty Shot feature that enhances a users' skin tone and removes blemishes with a simple setting.
