Convenience store GS25 and food company Ourhome, who participated in the 25th World Scout Jamboree held in Saemangeum, Jeollabuk-do, have come under fire for their poor management.

According to industry sources on the 8th, Ourhome, who operated the catering and concession stands, food trucks, etc., at the Jamboree, received heavy criticism for providing moldy rotten eggs and substandard meals on the second day of the event, August 2nd. After the incident, Ourhome admitted their mistake, and Ourhome Chairman Gu Ji-eun personally stepped in to handle the situation on site.

According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, of the 19,000 eggs provided that day, mold was discovered in 7 eggs, but nobody consumed them.

Meanwhile, GS Retail, the only convenience store operating during the Jamboree, is embroiled in an overpricing controversy. GS25 reportedly sold certain products at their tent-type store at the Jamboree site at prices 15-20% higher than the market price. For example, ice cups usually sold for 700 won were priced at 1500 won, 1800 won ice cream was sold for 2000 won, and Coca-Cola 500ml was sold between 2300 and 2500 won.

GS25 explained that some product prices were raised due to the high logistics infrastructure costs at the site. This led to criticism of profiteering, and as the overpricing controversy grew, all products were subsequently reduced to market price levels.

Furthermore, following the price reduction, GS25 is actively supporting emergency measures, including providing 50,000 bottles of water for free in consultation with the Jamboree organizing committee and cooperating in infrastructure construction for free mobile phone charging.
