On July 3, CJ Logistics announced that it has signed a strategic partnership memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the 7th global container shipping company, Japan’s Ocean Network Express (ONE).

Through this business agreement, both companies have agreed to actively cooperate in providing competitive fares and ship space for CJ Logistics container cargo moving globally from regions like Korea, China, and Japan.

Kang Byung-goo, representative of the CJ Logistics’ global division, said, “We expect that the friendly cooperative relationship between the two companies, each having the best capacity in the shipping and logistics fields, can further develop to create synergies.”

ONE was launched in 2017 as a result of a joint investment to consolidate the container business sectors of Japan’s three major shipping companies: Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line). The company is headquartered in Singapore.

With this business agreement, CJ Logistics has now established cooperative relationships with shipping companies belonging to two of the top three global shipping alliances. CJ Logistics continues to expand its global logistics territory, having already established strategic business cooperation with five domestic and foreign shipping companies, including Evergreen Marine Corp., SM Line, DONGYOUNG SHIPPING, and NAMSUNG SHIPPING.
