Hyundai Motor and Kia achieved double-digit sales growth in the United States in July, driven by their focus on eco-friendly vehicles. Remarkably, Kia marked a significant milestone with its twelfth consecutive month of setting new sales records.

Hyundai Motor America (HMA) announced on Aug. 1 (local time) that it recorded sales of 66,527 units on a wholesale basis during July, showing a substantial 10 percent increase from 60,631 units compared to the same period last year.

The surge in sales can be attributed to the strong performance of various eco-friendly models. The sales of eco-friendly vehicles accounted for 20 percent of total monthly retail sales, experiencing a whopping 49 percent increase. Among the different vehicle segments, SUVs constituted a significant portion, accounting for 74 percent of the total.

In cumulative terms, Hyundai’s year-to-date sales have surged to 461,140 units, showing a 14 percent growth over the same period the previous year.
