Hana Financial Group announced that they held an event to distribute school supplies to local students in areas affected by the super cyclone Mocha at the head office of Hana Microfinance Ltd., their local subsidiary located in Yangon, Myanmar.

Through this initiative, Hana Microfinance prepared 500 sets of school supplies, including pencils, ballpoint pens, colored pencils, notebooks, and water bottles, which are essential items in local classrooms, for students in the disaster-stricken area and delivered them to local relief organizations.

In addition, as a microfinance institution operating numerous branches in the northern regions of the Rakhain Region and the Magway Region, which were severely affected by this cyclone, Hana Microfinance has been actively providing support for disaster recovery to fulfill its social role and responsibility in the area.

First, Hana Microfinance has provided disaster recovery support to approximately 5,300 customers affected by this natural disaster and has given encouragement allowances to employees working in disaster-stricken areas. Moreover, they have been raising funds through internal fundraising activities for the reconstruction of the disaster-stricken areas and plan to further develop their “global shared finance” initiative with the local community.

Hana Microfinance, established in 2013, has been operating a microfinance business in Myanmar for almost a decade. As of the end of March this year, it has 75 branches with over 1,400 employees.
