Hanwha Aerospace announced on June 20 that they have entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with UK-based 'Vertical Aerospace' (VA) for the development of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) components.

The MOA signing ceremony took place at the Paris Air Show in France on June 19, with Hanwha Aerospace CEO Son Jae-il, Vertical Aerospace CEO Stephen Fitzpatrick, and other related parties in attendance to discuss the terms of their cooperation.

Through this agreement, Hanwha Aerospace will develop and supply the “Tilting & Blade Pitch System” for VA's in-development four-seater UAM VX4. The two companies also agreed to maintain an active partnership for the future expansion of the UAM business. The Tilting & Blade Pitch System is a key system that transfers motor power to the propellers and adjusts the flight direction and thrust of the UAM, requiring high-level research and development capabilities as it must enable both vertical takeoff and landing and horizontal flight.

Hanwha Aerospace CEO Son Jae-il said, "Based on our competitive aviation technology accumulated over 40 years, we will strengthen our cooperation with VA, a global UAM company, and expand our future mobility business."
