On June 13, Samsung Electronics announced a partnership with SolarEdge, the world’s No. 1 solar smart inverter company. The two companies will team up to promote Net Zero Homes, the future of housing, in the global market.

Samsung Electronics explained that global companies promoting the Net Zero Home Project are requesting collaboration with Samsung Electronics as SmartThings Energy not only monitors solar energy production, but enables easy energy savings.

Previously, Samsung Electronics forged partnerships with various solar companies including SMA and Maxeon, starting with collaboration with Hanwha Q CELLS in 2021.

SmartThings Energy monitors the amount of energy produced by home solar panels and energy storage systems (ESSs) and provides smart solutions for home appliances connected to SmartThings to enable the home appliances to save energy by utilizing an AI saving mode.

From the end of June, SmartThings Energy will also provide carbon intensity information by time of day. Carbon intensity refers to the amount of carbon emissions generated when consuming 1 kWh of electricity. Consumers can experience a reduction in carbon emissions through product-specific carbon emission estimates and participate in carbon reduction by selecting times with relatively low carbon intensity.

On top of that, Samsung Electronics will expand its Resident Demand Response Service, which provides incentives to local governments to voluntarily prune energy use during peak electricity usage hours around the world.
