As showcasing of the Galaxy Note 5 will start in a week, the smartphone market in the latter half of this year began to heat up. Fierce competition is expected, since Apple, LG Electronics, and Huawei are scheduled to release new premium models in the latter half to counter the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which are scheduled to be revealed on Aug. 13.

Samsung Electronics disclosed invitations for this year's product launch event for Galaxy phones through Samsung Tomorrow, its official blog. The company is expected to tout the large screen and note-taking function of the Galaxy Note 5 as strong points. The new model will sport a 4100 mA battery, up 20 percent compared to the 3220 mA battery of the predecessor. It is expected to be 7.9 mm thin, 0.6 mm thinner than the previous model. The new handset is likely to have a 5.7 inch screen, an increase of 0.2 inches from the display of the Galaxy Note 4. It will reportedly have the Exynos 7422, a 16 megapixel camera at the back, and a 5 megapixel camera at the front, like the Galaxy S6. Wireless charging will also be possible.

The new phablet will have a feature capable of instantly executing social networking services by taking out the S pen, according to industry sources. A screen pops up in old Galaxy Note models to write letters or drawing pictures, but the new model makes it possible to directly enter or edit letters or pictures and to directly go to social media apps like Instagram.

Apple is also gearing up to unveil a new line of smartphones to continue the popularity of the iPhone 6 and 6+. The iPhone 6S will set itself apart with the application of new technology. Newly-added Force Touch is a feature that senses the level of force exerted on a touchpad or a screen and responds accordingly. The new version is expected to have least a 12 megapixel camera. The 16GB model will disappear, and instead 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB models are expected to be available. The iPhone 6S is likely to have a design similar to the iPhone 6.

LG is also going to announce a super-premium smartphone model that surpasses the G series around the fall. The new product will have a large screen and a high-performance camera. The new model will feature a 6" QHD display, a 20 megapixel camera, the Snapdragon 820, and 4 GB of RAM, according to Phone Arena. Huawei is scheduled to reveal its flagship smartphone Mate 8 in Sept. as well, and it is said to have the company's own Kirin 950 processor and a 20.7 megapixel camera on the back.
