Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), revealed the mutual cooperation of the Korean and Japanese business communities, stating that "we will connect the 2030 Busan World Expo (Busan Expo) with the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo in Japan as a single solution platform."

Chairman Chey stated at the 12th KCCI-JCCI Chairpersons’ Meeting jointly hosted by KCCI and Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) at Busan Signiel Hotel on June 9 that “The Busan Expo is part of the effort to solve global challenges.”

Chairman Chey, who recently suffered from an ankle injury, entered the event venue in a wheelchair and then supported himself with a crutch.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Chey emphasized, "The recent Korea-Japan relationship is facing a significant period, with shuttle diplomacy being restored after 12 years due to successive summits. It is time to actively move in the private sector to strengthen relations between the two countries and promote economic cooperation based on such developments."

Ken Kobayashi, chairman of the JCCI, said, "I'm glad that the relationship between the two countries is on track to improvement" and "I hope exchanges in various fields such as regional exchanges between sister cities in Korea and Japan, tourism, culture, and education will be activated on the occasion of the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo and the 2030 Busan Expo."

KCCI and JCCI issued a joint statement for mutual cooperation. The joint statement stated, "The KCCI will actively participate in the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo, and the JCCI will actively cooperate for the successful bidding of the 2030 Busan Expo."
