New Chiplets

LG Electronics will team up with legendary CPU developer Jim Keller to develop artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors.

Canadian AI chip developer Tenstorrent announced on May 31 that it will collaborate with LG Electronics to develop AI and video codec chiplets.

LG Electronics will utilize the AI semiconductor technology in its next-generation premium TVs and high-performance automotive chips.

The company will use Tenstorrent’s AI and RISC-V CPU technology to power AI functions and high-performance computing. RISC-V is an open-source architecture that is rapidly emerging as an alternative to ARM architecture.

Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Tenstorrent is an AI chip development startup founded in 2016. Jim Keller is the CEO of Tenstorrent. Keller is an American microprocessor engineer best known for his work at AMD and Apple. He was the lead architect of the AMD K8 microarchitecture and was involved in designing the Athlon (K7) and Apple A4/A5 processors.
