Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) is holding a science and technology event from March 28 to 31 at the KHNP headquarters and the facilities of nuclear power-related organizations by inviting experts from countries that are operating nuclear power plants.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) requested KHNP to hold this event along with about 20 people, including IAEA officials and government officials, nuclear power plant operators and regulators from 10 countries -- Poland, Romania, Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Egypt and Argentina. They will visit with the rest of the nuclear industry for four days and share the status of new technology development and experience among member countries.

On March 28, the first day of the event, a presentation was made on the current status of nuclear power plants in Korea and experience in the construction of UAE nuclear power plants. Participants visited the Saeul Headquarters, a construction site for an APR1400 reactor. They showed a great interest in the APR1400 model being built by KHNP in the UAE and the APR1000 model developed based on new regulatory requirements in Europe.

On the second day they will have time to learn about and discuss nuclear power plant operations using advanced technologies such as digital twins, configuration management, and artificial intelligence remote monitoring at Doosan Enerbility’s Changwon Plant, the KHNP Central Research Institute, and NSE.
