To Provide Robot-based Order-sorting Facilities

Hankook Networks, an affiliate of Hankook & Company Group (formerly Hankook Tire Group), has been awarded a 12 billion won contract for a new logistics center construction project by hy (formerly Korea Yakult), a distribution company. Hankook Networks began establishing a logistics automation system.

hy’s new logistics center in Nonsan, Korea will cover an area of approximately 24,793 square meters and aims to secure a base for online mall orders and local supplies, as well as handle the increasing volume of goods. Once completed, it will be used as an outpost for providing fulfillment services by merging hy’s company-wide digital transformation.

Hankook Networks will supply the center with autonomous mobile robot (AMR)-based order-sorting facilities and an integrated warehouse control system (WCS).

According to an official from hy, the automation facility will double the shipment processing capacity, reducing work time and manpower at the logistics center by 30%. He added, "Hankook Networks is a company that proposed the optimal solution based on understanding of our business and industry. We chose Hankook Networks for their expertise, as the company has experience in building many warehouse management systems (WMS).”

Meanwhile, Hankook Networks established a logistics automation team in 2020 and has secured automation construction results in various industries such as apparel, food and beverage, and cosmetics. By upgrading the solution linked to the logistics automation business with the warehouse management system (WMS), the company is developing a new business model at Level 5 (intelligent, unmanned), and plans to provide customers with a higher level of service. Additionally, in 2023, a new Solution Lab group will be created to speed up the development of a more sophisticated Total Package-type smart factory solution.
