Arrest Warrant Sought for the Man Known as Real Owner of Bithumb

The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office has launched an investigation into cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb.

The Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office is investigating cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb.

According to industry sources, the investigation has to do with market manipulation allegations and the investigation targets include domestic cryptocurrencies such as GOM2 and PXL.

On Jan. 25, the prosecution requested an arrest warrant for Kang Jong-hyun, who is known as the real owner of the exchange. According to it, he is involved in embezzlement, malpractice and fraudulent transactions with regard to related companies Inbiogen and Bucket Studio.
