42.4 Billion Lenses Used for Each 77-inch 4K Panel

LG Display’s new OLED TV panel unveiled at CES 2023

LG Display has unveiled its third-generation OLED TV panel at CES 2023. The new panel is a 60 percent improvement in brightness and 30 percent improvement in viewing angle compared to the previous generation. Specifically, the brightness has been improved from 1,300 to 2,100 nit.

The company produced the brightest OLED TV panel ever with the super-fine structure of a micro lens array. It is characterized by depositing self-light-emitting organic matter on extremely small, invisible and uneven lens patterns so that light emission can be maximized. To be specific, 42.4 billion lenses are applied to each 77-inch 4K panel.

Compared to the second-generation, the new panel is 22 percent more energy-efficient. LG Display said that the price difference would be minimized with its advanced micro lens manufacturing technique.
