Win a Total of 580 Contracts in 97 Countries

Korean builders’ new overseas contracts totaled US$30.98 billion in 2022.

The International Contractors Association of Korea announced on Jan. 4 that South Korean construction companies’ new overseas contracts totaled US$30.98 billion last year to top US$30 billion for the third consecutive year.

Specifically, 319 companies signed 580 contracts in 97 countries. The total was US$30.6 billion in 2021 and US$35.1 billion in 2020.

Last year’s new overseas contracts include US$12.2 billion in Asia, US$9.02 billion in the Middle East, US$4.54 billion in North America and the Pacific region and US$3.41 billion in Europe. The ratio of projects in Asia rose from 30.3 percent to 39.4 percent and that of those in the Middle East fell from 36.7 percent to 29.1 percent.

Industrial facility construction accounted for 42.3 percent of the total last year, followed by building (27.9 percent), civil engineering (18.9 percent) and service (6.4 percent).

Samsung C&T and Samsung Engineering reached US$5.382 billion and US$3.984 billion, respectively. Hyundai Engineering’s performance was US$3.396 billion, followed by Hyundai Engineering and Construction (US$2.695 billion), Lotte Engineering & Construction (US$1.769 billion), Doosan Enerbility (US$1.441 billion), SK Ecoplant (US$1.153 billion), Daewoo Engineering & Construction (US$1.114 billion), GS E&C (US$0.894 billion) and DL E&C (US$0.577 billion).
