6 Universities Recruiting 83 Students

The semiconductor departments Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix opened at universities recently attracted many applicants. Each of the departments guarantees a job in one of the two companies.

The departments are open at six schools (Korea, Yonsei, Sogang, Hanyang, Sungkyunkwan and KAIST) and are recruiting 83 students for this year.

At those at Yonsei and Sungkyunkwan (run by Samsung), the number of applicants was 650 percent and 368 percent of the planned recruitment, respectively. As for those at Korea, Sogang and Hanyang (run by SK Hynix), the figures were 673 percent, 1,120 percent and 1,188 percent, respectively. The KAIST recruits students without major classification.

At Sogang and Hanyang, the figures of the departments were the highest of all except art and physical education. At Yonsei and Korea, it was the second- and third-highest in all departments of natural science.
