The Global Telecoms Business (GTB) Innovation Award, held in London on May 13, awarded the “olleh Rwanda networks” (oRn) the wireless network infrastructure innovation award, KT said on May 14.

KT and the Rwandan government established oRn in a partnership in September 2013, with 51 percent and 49 percent shares respectively, in order to develop a 4G LTE network and provide LTE wholesale services in Rwanda, KT said.

GTB Innovation Award, held by GTB, a British information technology specialized media, have been awarding the world’s most innovative projects of communication service providers over the globe, since 2007. The specific awarding sectors are wireless network infrastructure innovation, fixed network infrastructure innovation, wholesale service innovation, business service innovation, and consumer service innovation, KT said.

For the wireless network infrastructure innovation sector, GTB awarded oRn, KT said.

oRn began to provide its commercial LTE service in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, last year, KT said. oRn is aimed at providing LTE services to the entire country, KT said.
