WeMakePrice and Google Cloud have launched a large-scale project to move all service systems of WeMakePrice from its IDC to a container-based cloud environment.

The two companies announced the project at a vision share workshop at WeMakePrice’s headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on Nov. 11.

Under the contract, WeMakePrice will actively introduce Google Kubernetes Engine to its transition to a cloud environment. Kubernetes is a technology that enables developers to build an optimal cloud by automating application deployment and system operation management in a cloud environment.

WeMakePrice recently recruited Lee Jin-ho from Apple as its new CTO and is maximizing its technological power based on AI and machine learning (ML). It plans to help users shop quickly and conveniently based on an analysis of metadata extracted from 230,000 shopping malls and a total of 700 million products.

In addition to Kubernetes, Google Cloud boasts global top-tier technologies in AI and ML. “We will be able to introduce a product recommendation and image search system that has evolved through our AI/ML collaboration with Google Cloud to WeMakePrice services,” WeMakePrice CTO Lee said.
