Planning to Form a Consortium for the Project

Officials from KHNP, ZEPAK and PGE sign an LOI on Oct. 31 for nuclear power plant construction in Patnow, Poland.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) had a meeting on Nov. 9 and decided to form a consortium and formulate detailed plans so that their nuclear power plant construction project in Patnow, Poland can proceed well.

KHNP signed a letter of intent on Oct. 31 with Polish private energy company ZEPAK and state-run power company PGE. According to it, KHNP will build two, three or four APR1400-based nuclear power plants in Patnow. Specifics are yet to be determined, and the South Korean government is planning to turn the LOI into a final contract for more detailed planning.

The government is also planning to form a project team regarding the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant in Egypt. KHNP and Atomstroyexport JSC signed a contract in August for subcontract work there.
