Some Watches Won't Charge or Power on

Samsung Electronics has apologized for power errors of Galaxy Watch 4.

Complaints about power failure of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Watch 4 are spreading in major online communities. Users are complaining that their watches won't charge or power on. Samsung Electronics acknowledged that some watches have such errors, saying that it will repair them free of charge.

These problems began after a software update for the Galaxy Watch 4 in October. Users reported that their watches suddenly turned off or its battery went dead after the software update. They said they could not turn on the watches again.

“When I called the Samsung Electronics service center, they said that they did not see it as a defect even though there were many cases of sudden death,” some users complained. “If the Galaxy Watch 4 becomes out of warranty and suddenly breaks down, it is better to just throw it away because its repair cost is 150,000 won.”

On Nov. 6, Samsung Electronics posted an apology regarding the software update in the Samsung Members website. “After a recent Galaxy Watch 4 software update, some watches did not turn on,” it said. “We have stopped updating the software that caused the error, and we will distribute an improved version of the software soon.” Samsung Electronics has decided to provide free repair services to users who suffered this problem.
