Samsung and LG Losing Domestic Laptop Market Shares

Foreign laptop suppliers’ market shares are rising in South Korea, led by Asus and Lenovo.

According to market research firms, the share of Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, which used to exceed 80 percent, almost halved in one year in the second quarter of this year.

Specifically, Samsung Electronics’ market share was 33.7 percent, followed by ASUS (22.7 percent), LG Electronics (16.2 percent), Apple (8.1 percent) and Lenovo (7.4 percent). ASUSTek Computer of Taiwan has become the first foreign laptop supplier that beat LG Electronics in the South Korean market.
