Hankook & Company Co., Ltd., the holding company of Hankook Tire & Technology Co., Ltd., recently has announced the establishment of a subsidiary company, Hankook & Company ES Deutschland GmbH, under its Energy Solution (ES) Business Headquarters. Located in Frankfurt, Germany, Hankook & Company ES Deutschland GmbH is expected to foster the company’s automotive battery business in the vibrant European market.

Hankook & Company ES Deutschland GmbH is Hankook & Company's first battery subsidiary in Europe. Frankfurt was strategically chosen as the base location for the business as the city is in close proximity to the main railway that stretches across the European continent as well as being a key hub for air freights. With these logistical advantages, Hankook aims to create efficient supply chain for its premium batteries for customers and expand its business base in the region.

Hankook & Company ES Deutschland GmbH will supply its Hankook brand batteries applied with the latest technologies. Hankook AGM batteries provide the best value for Start-Stop vehicles and premium vehicles while the Hankook EFB batteries feature more enhanced MF technology that performs excellent in entry-level start-stop vehicles and general vehicles. In addition, the brand’s new Hankook MF batteries offer a revolutionary battery technology that supports the best driving performance based on stable power supply in all weather conditions. All three products are equipped with advanced X-Frame Tech, which boasts longer battery life and strengthened engine start-up performance compared to existing MF batteries.

Hankook & Company had previously opened an office in Frankfurt in 2019. As Hankook & Company and its affiliate Hankook Tire share the global brand Hankook, key factors such as future synergies were taken into consideration. Hankook Tire has supplied its tires for German premium carmakers such as Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi, and has seen substantial growth in the European market.

Furthermore, Hankook & Company has been promoting its technology by participating in Europe's the largest auto parts and services exhibition. In September, the company exhibited a wide range of its Hankook brand battery products at the Automechanika Frankfurt equipped with innovative battery technologies.

Since introducing the first maintenance-free battery in Korea in 1982, Hankook & Company launched its AGM battery for the Idle Stop & Go system in 2005, and later developed ultra-high performance batteries (UHPB) in 2013. The brand serves approximately 450 clients across 100 countries through its 4 global sales bases located in the U.S, Europe, and Dubai, 3 international and domestic production facilities, and its R&D center.
