Showcasing Battery Technologies Tailored to Commercial Vehicles
Samsung SDI announced on Sept. 20 that it is participating in IAA Transportation 2022, one of the world's largest commercial vehicle exhibitions, which is held at the Hannover Fairground in Hannover, Germany, from Sept. 20-25 September 2022.
The company has set up an undisclosed booth for its customers and is exhibiting next-generation battery technology and products. It has been participating in the IAA since 2013.
Under the theme “Heading Towards a New Horizon,” Samsung SDI emphasizes its core competencies such as advanced battery material technology, quality control and mass production capabilities. It introduces technologies and products specialized for commercial vehicles.
Samsung SDI took the wraps off P6 (sixth-generation prismatic battery) loaded with silicone carbon nanocomposite (SNC), a patented technology that boosts energy density by increasing silicon content in high-nickel NCA cathode and anode materials. P6 is a next-generation battery offering higher energy density, fast charging, and a longer life. The Korean battery maker is showing a roadmap for prismatic and cylindrical batteries, including cobalt-free and all-solid-state types.
Local corporate customers showed the highest interest in the company's scalable module and pack technology tailored to commercial vehicles. It provides a differentiated performance by optimizing battery energy, charging time, and lifespan for each commercial vehicle model.
