The first divorce hearing of Hotel Shilla CEO Lee Boo-jin, the eldest daughter of the Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee, from her husband Im Woo-jae, who is the vice president of Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., took place on April 9.

In the 15-minute hearing at the Seongnam branch of Suwon District Court, both sides failed to reach an agreement on parental rights or child custody. Neither Lee or Im appeared at the hearing.

The counsel representing Im said, “There are no clear grounds for divorce.”

Im had previously applied for the rights to meet their child during the divorce mediation period immediately after the second round of divorce mediation at the court on Feb. 10, and the court approved it.

It is said that he has been meeting their second-grade son twice a month from the middle of last month.

Both Lee and Im are going through a divorce after Lee filed for divorce in October last year.

Lee married Im in August 1999 when he worked as a rank-and-file employee of Samsung C&T Corp.

At that time, the Samsung Group's ruling family opposed the marriage, but the two got married anyway. However, they have allegedly come into conflict over personality difference since then. After Lee Kun-hee was hospitalized for suffering a heart attack in May last year, his daughter Lee Boo-jin began the divorce proceedings.
