PQC Commercialized for Global VPN

SK Telecom has commercialized post-quantum cryptography (PQC) for global virtual private network (VPN) services.

SK Telecom announced on Sept. 13 that it has commercialized post-quantum cryptography (PQC) for global virtual private network (VPN) services.

PQC is an encryption technology that uses a complex mathematical algorithm that takes a very long time to solve, even with a quantum computer.

The company has expanded the field of quantum cryptography technology to PQC, following quantum key distributors (QKDs) and quantum random number generators (QRNGs).

A QKD installs and operates a physical key distribution device for each section, while PQC is implemented as software. It is regarded as a complementary technology in terms of security and convenience.

SK Broadband said that it completed the installation of PQC-VPN through a software update in August and successfully ran network tests in overseas countries such as the United States, Japan, and Singapore.
