Signs Agreement with Corio Generation and TotalEnergies

Officials from SK ecoplant, Corio Generation and TotalEnergies pose for a photo after signing an agreement on joint investment in and development of offshore wind power projects on Sept. 5.

SK ecoplant has signed an offshore wind power development agreement with Corio Generation, a wind power development company within Green Investment Group (GIG), and TotalEnergies, a global general energy company, the company announced on Sept. 5.

GIG is a specialist green investor within Macquarie Asset Management.

Through this agreement, SK ecoplant will secure a stake in BadaEnergy's portfolio. BadaEnergy is an offshore wind power project being promoted by Corio Generation and TotalEnergies. Its portfolio consists of floating and fixed offshore wind power projects in five regions, including Ulsan and South Jeolla Province. The combined power generation of these projects is 2.6GW. In particular, BadaEnergy includes the 1.5GW Gray Whale project, which is expected to become the world's largest floating offshore wind power project.

So far, the sites selected for the five projects have good wind conditions with an average wind speed of over 8m/s and excellent locations for power plant construction and power transmission and distribution. Four of them have already received permission for power generation business from the Electricity Commission of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
