Hanwha Systems signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Honeywell Aerospace, a U.S. defense and aerospace company, for joint development of advanced air vehicle (AAV) systems at Farnborough International Airshow 2022 in the United Kingdom on July 19 (local time).

The two companies will cooperate in the development of a first-generation electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and second- and third-generation AAVs that are capable of autonomous and long flights.

On July 20 (local time), Hanwha Systems and its parent company Hanwha Aerospace inked a multilateral MOU with France’s Safran Group, a leading European aerospace and defense company, to strengthen cooperation in wide-ranging areas, including the defense, space and mobility industries.

Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems and Safran have decided to cooperate in low orbit satellite communication services, which are essential to expanding the UAM market, economic and efficient propulsion systems and satellite launch services. The three companies plan to form a joint working group to further refine cooperation in the aerospace industry.
