A Base for Food Exports to Southeast Asia
Korea Agro-Fisheries Trade Corp. (aT) announced on July 7 that it has opened a branch in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Kuala Lumpur branch is aT’s fifth branch in Southeast Asia after those in Jakarta, Bangkok, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
In particular, Malaysia is a country aT is focusing on as it intends to go into the halal food market. About 60 percent of Malaysia's population are Muslim.
Malaysia is also a strategic forward base for Korean food exporters seeking to enter Southeast Asia as it borders Singapore, Thailand, and Brunei and is adjacent to Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines and Indonesia.
