The World's Largest Tech Companies in 2022

Samsung Electronics’ ranking in the Forbes' list of the World’s Largest Tech Companies slid by two notches from second place in 2021 to fourth in 2022.

Forbes discloses the Global 2000 annually by comprehensively evaluating major global companies in terms of four indicators -- sales, net income, assets, and market capitalization. The list excludes financial companies.

According to the American business magazine, Samsung Electronics’ sales grew from US$200.7 billion last year to US$244.2 billion, but its market capitalization shrank by US$143.2 billion from US$510.5 billion to US$367.3 billion.

Apple claimed the top spot again. Its market capitalization amounted to US$2.6 trillion, up US$300 billion from the previous year's US$2.3 trillion.

Alphabet, the parent company of Google, nabbed second place. Alphabet’s sales revenue hit US$257.5 billion, an increase of US$75.1 billion from the previous year (US$182.4 billion). During the same period, its market capitalization also ascended from US$1.5 trillion to US$1.6 trillion.

Microsoft (US$2.1 trillion) took third place, and Tencent (US$414.3 billion) settled in the top five. Meta Platforms (US$499.9 billion) took sixth place, followed by Intel (US$190.3 billion), TSMC (US$494.6 billion), Cisco Systems (US$213.4 billion) and IBM (US$124.3 billion).
