South Korean smart farm companies are increasing their market share in the Middle East. Plan T Farm recently signed a contract in Kuwait to export US$1.25 million of smart farms, and N.thing recently completed the construction of a container-type vertical farm with a size of US$3 million in the UAE.

N.thing is already running a four-container vertical farm in the UAE. The number of containers has increased to eight in the latest contract. uLikeKorea is building an ICT-based operating system in farms in the UAE.

Middle Eastern states are highly interested in smart farms as their topographic and climate conditions hinder agricultural product cultivation. In Kuwait, the area of arable land is equivalent to merely 0.6 percent of its entire territory. The ratio is 0.4 percent in the UAE, where the average annual rainfall is 42 mm. In the UAE, agricultural product demands are continuing to increase along with its population.
