SOMESING, a Korean startup that provides a blockchain-based karaoke serice, said on April 3 that the beta version of its app, which was released at the end of February, has been downloaded more than 10,000 times within 10 days from its release, with the number of users continuing to increase and active transactions on the ICON network also increasing.

Kim Heui-bae, CEO of SOMESING, said, "Since the launch of SOMESING's beta app in February, the number of daily active users (DAU) has exceeded 1,000, with that of monthly active users (MAU) surpassing 10,000." Kim added, "The app has been downloaded in 43 countries worldwide, with approximately 15,000 MRs (accompaniments) having been played and 2,500 song content created. Among these, 1,300 songs were posted in the app, and visiting users are actively engaged in listening to these songs."

Kim also said, "The number of accumulated transactions in March was about 17,000, with an average of 45 songs posted per day, and an average of 2.5 supporting events for each posted song took place. It is very encouraging in terms of the market feedback, in light of the fact that currently only the Android beta version is available.”

“The figures are expected to increase once SOMESING’s iOS beta version is released,” Kim said, expressing high expectations for the iOS beta version, which will be available in the third week of April.

According to data of DappRadar, which provides information about all the existing decentralized applications (dApps), SOMESING’s number of users, which is currently 1,000, in a 24-hour period, is ranked at 25th among all the global dApps. Considering the fact that dApps with the highest number of users within 24 hours mainly belong to the game category, SOMESING's performance gives high expectation for activation of its ecosystem in the market.

About market response to SOMESING's beta version, Oh Hyun, CEO of Deblock, a blockchain accelerator company, said, "SOMESING is a K-pop based video service, which is different from most existing dApps that cannot attract actual users and the gambling-oriented gaming apps that are becoming the mainstream. It is a competitive service in the current app market." He added, "Furthermore, SOMESING has a strong growth potential, in light of the steep growth in the number of users of the beta version.”

"If the current growth trend is maintained after the release of the iOS beta version, it will easily achieve more than 100,000 downloads with more than 10,000 DAU. Also, it would be not that difficult to be ranked among the global top 10 most popular dApps," said Yoon Hyun-keun, COO of SOMESING.

SOMESING, which aims to be a "social music network where any singlovers can enjoy singing for free," has a structure in which the songs that users sing become new content, and the more popular a song becomes, the higher reward the singer receives. This is SOMESING’s fair rewarding system based on blockchain.

In addition, it has been attracting industry attention as a life-friendly entertainment service that combines blockchain technology for the first time among karaoke apps.

SOMESING's Android beta version, released on Feb. 28, incorporates the most important elements of karaoke apps: sound quality and sound effects, sound and voice sync, duet, and video functions. The app is undergoing a beta test with users on ICON's test net.
