The diplomatic missions of 33 developing countries to Korea visited Sudokwon Landfill Site Management Corporation, or SLC, (acting President Lee Yong-jae) in order to develop cooperation projects between Korea and their own countries.

The visit was part of industrial inspection run by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for the development of the joint projects between Korea and developing countries.

As the SLC received high praise on its operation and management of the landfill and advanced systems of waste recycling, the corporation was selected as subject to industrial inspection.

The diplomatic corps highly valued the eco-friendly sanitary landfill of the Sudokwon Landfill Site and SLC’s advanced technology of waste disposal. Notably, they showed a lot of interest in the 50MW landfill gas power facilities and waste recycling projects, including solid recovered fuel (SRF) facilities.

In particular, they showed interest in the efficient operation and management of the landfill and the application plan of landfill gas. Also, they said that they wanted to seek cooperation projects by establishing a cooperative relationship with the SLC, which has the technologies to manage the landfill and dispose of waste materials.

Lee said, “The environmentally-friendly sanitary landfill and waste recycling projects are in great demand in developing countries. Based on the advanced technologies and expertise of the SLC, we will aggressively seek cooperative projects overseas.”
