Ssangyong Motor (www.smotor.com) has started exporting its Tivoli compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), which is already popular in the domestic market.

Ssangyong Motor will begin shipments of about 2,000 units of the Tivoli to Europe and Latin America, specifically Belgium, the U.K., Spain, Italy, Chile, and Peru. The Tivoli will be available in June.

The company is planning to export a total of 25,000 units to overseas markets this year, including 13,500 units to Europe. Implementing an aggressive marketing strategy of large-scale test drive events for the press in the local markets, Ssangyong aims to increase its market share.

Seeking to regain the famous SUV brand name, the Tivoli was launched on the market as Ssangyong Motor’s global strategic model in January after going through a 40 month development period. As the compact SUV with a 1.6 liter gasoline engine, the Tivoli has appealed to consumers even before release with its innovative and aesthetic designs, roomy cargo space, and the most commercial value in its class.

With its high stiffness body, cutting-edge safety technology and outstanding space utilization, the Tivoli maximized the practical utility for leisure activities.

In a bid to improve the hardness, Ssanyong used the hot press forming method and minimized the deformation of the car body in a collision. The generous luggage space of up to 423 cubic litres, which is the biggest in the class, is enough to carry three full size golf club bags.

An official from Ssangyong Motor said, “The Tivoli won high praise in the global marketing conference and the international dealership competition for overseas branch officials before the release of the product.”
