Its facility investment stood at 20.25 trillion won in the first half of this year. Of the amount, 17.56 trillion won, or 80 percent of the total, was invested in semiconductor-related facilities. The figure represented a drop of 3.4 trillion won compared with a year ago.

Its ratio of investment to sales also descended amid growing business uncertainty. It fell to 7.9 percent in the first half of this year. The company's five-year R&D cost trend rose from 7.4 percent in the first half of 2018 to 9.3 percent in 2019 and 9.8 percent in 2020. But since 2021, it has been on a steady decline.
