The Ministry of Knowledge Economy launches a national project to foster small businesses in the consumer electronics industry, providing them with support platforms optimized for the entire business cycles. Also, it is planning to provide tailored supports to one company per business item by matching them with major customers.

As is well known, major companies in Korea such as Samsung and LG Electronics are dominating the global home appliances market these days. In order for the country to become a true global powerhouse, however, small businesses have to further enhance their competitiveness and sustainability. The project is to meet such needs of the industry.

In this context, the ministry establishes the Korea Home Appliance Platform (KHAP) with the Korea Electronics Association (KEA). It is slated to provide support packages covering product planning, R&D, marketing, PR, online coaching and consultation, etc. At the same time, it offers business tie-up opportunities and design consulting associated with mold manufacturing, the importance of which is on the rise in today’s consumer electronics sector.
