Dream Company

 

For seven consecutive years, Samsung Electronics topped the list of dream companies to work for.

According to a recent survey of 1,442 college students and job seekers by Recruit, 13.9 percent of respondents selected Samsung Electronics as the most desired company to work at.

Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) ranked 2nd with 7.6 percent, while Hyundai Motor ranked 3rd with 6.3 percent. Among the top 10 companies, CJ Cheil Jedang came in 4th with 3.5 percent, POSCO in 5th with 2.7 percent, Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) and Kia Motors in 6th with 2.4 percent, Asiana Airlines in 8th with 2.2 percent, and LG Chem and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) in 9th with 1.6 percent.

As to the reason why they wanted to join the company, respondents cited the high salaries for Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors, while they cited security, including retirement age guarantees, for KEPCO, KOGAS, and KHNP.

Also, respondents selected the company’s work environment and corporate culture for CJ Cheil Jedang, POSCO, and LG Chem as the reason, while they chose the company’s work environment, corporate culture and benefits, including breaks, medical care, and childcare facilities for Asiana Airlines.

Meanwhile, 17.4 percent of job seekers believed that specialty and ability are the most important in order to join major companies. Integrity, personality and passion ranked 2nd with 12 percent. A high level of education ranked 3rd with 11.5 percent. One's alma mater and educational background ranked 4th with 10.5 percent. Certified language test scores including TOEIC ranked 5th with 9.9 percent, and working experience including internship ranked 6th with 7.3 percent.
