To Reduce of 76 Tons of Carbon per Year

Pernod Ricard Korea, the Korean unit of the global wine and spirits company Pernod Ricard, will replace entire corporate vehicles with eco-friendly mobility in an effort to reduce carbon emissions.

The company plans to replace all of its corporate business vehicles with eco-friendly versions starting from the end of this month. As part of the plan, the roughly 60 corporate vehicles used by sales representatives that are equipped with only internal combustion engines (ICE) will be first replaced with hybrid vehicles. Vehicles purchased thereafter will be limited to electric and hybrid vehicles as part of the company’s plan to maintain 100% eco-friendly vehicles.

Compared to ICE vehicles, eco-friendly vehicles reduce carbon emissions by approximately 50g per 1 km of driving distance. By replacing the corporate vehicles used by sales employees, the company expects about 76.25 tons of CO2 emissions to be reduced per year. This is equivalent to planting more than 11,553 30-year-old pine trees.

In addition, Pernod Ricard Korea operates a wide range of additional Sustainability and Responsibility (S&R) policies in Korea. The company is offering a professional training program called the “Bar World of Tomorrow” in order to help establish a culture of sustainability across related industries and train people on ways to conserve and reuse resources. In addition, the company is eliminating single-use plastic items, ensuring that all products used in marketing and promotion are made of recyclable materials.

All of these efforts are part of the Pernod Ricard Group’s Sustainability and Responsibility roadmap, ‘Good Times from a Good Place’ that reflects the company’s commitment to practicing sustainable and responsible management at all stages of production ‘from grain to glass.’

Frantz Hotton, CEO of Pernod Ricard Korea commented, “Eco-friendly movements supporting carbon neutrality are growing around the world. We hope that our decision to introduce environmentally responsible vehicles can contribute to the improvement of air quality and environmental conservation. Pernod Ricard Korea will continue to endeavor to seek ways to practice more sustainable and responsible management across all stages of our industry from production to serving customers.”

Pernod Ricard Korea has equipped all its corporate business cars with fire extinguishers, safety vests, and breathalyzers to ensure safer driving for its employees.
