Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are targeting the TV markets in China and Brazil with strategic products for 2015.

Samsung Electronics unveiled its Super UHD televisions at a China Household Electrical Appliances Association (CHEAA) electronics fair in Shanghai and the products won the China Appliance Grand Prize, the top award in the fair. The company is planning to maintain the momentum.

The winner, the 65 inch JS9800 (global model name: JS9000), was highly rated for rich colors and rear design using its nanocrystal technology.

Focusing on the flagship models just like the JS9900, Samsung Electronics will release a total of 27 UHD television models in China this year, including curved SUHD TVs coming in 88, 78, 65 and 55 inch variations and flat SUHD TVs coming in 65 and 55 inch variations.

An official from the company said, “Considering the conditions of the Chinese market, where there is a lot of content geared to small screens, we have adopted a new function to upgrade picture quality for all UHD lineups.”

On March 12 (local time), LG Electronics held an unveiling event for new products for 2015 at the Bourbon Ibirapuera Hotel in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

It showcased the super high-definition television lineups, including “Ultra Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) TV” and “Super Ultra High-Definition (UHD) TV.” This year, LG Electronics is planning to expand its TV lineup by 50 percent compared to the previous year to strengthen its lead in the Brazilian TV market.

The company plans to launch four OLED televisions of three series in Brazil this year, with diverse options for screen sizes including 77, 65 and 55 inches. It will also release a “Super Ultra HD TV” in Brazil. This model has upgraded color reproduction compared with existing UHD-class televisions.

An official from the company said, “The products also have special functions for Latin American customers who love soccer. These include AV modes for soccer games, and a Time Machine recording function.”
