G4 Vs. S6

LG Electronics President Cho Jun-ho has announced that it will release the G4, a sequel to the G3, within the second quarter of the year.

Cho Jun-ho, president of LG Electronics, speaks at the MWC 2015 about the upcoming G4 smartphone. On Mar. 3 (local time), Cho said in the press conference at the MWC 2015 in Barcelona, Spain, “In the smart market reaching its full growth, we are planning to release an ultra-premium smartphone that goes beyond the G series in the second half of this year, with the motto of choice and concentration.”

He also said, “Last year, the G3 received positive responses from customers in the high-end market. We will put together a smartphone with a higher level of specifications and gain recognition in the market again.”

He added, “Even though our competitors have strong commodity power, I have confirmed that we still have an opportunity, while meeting our accounts and customers.”

The plan is to offer an optimized product to users who want the high end, but to also offer a product maximizing ease of use for general users.

The G4 will be available within the second quarter not only in Korea but also around the world. Cho said of Samsung’s Galaxy S6, “It is a good product, but we are preparing the product which is just as good.”

He said, “We generally use Google's Android operating system in our mobile devices. However, high-quality wearable devices need a special OS. This is why we used our own OS when connecting the LG smartwatch Urbane with an Audi car.”

He added, “Since our competitors take absolutely the first and second place, our goal this year is to become the significant number 3, with a growth rate at the 20 percent level.”
