Signs a PPA with Local Energy Companies

A 168 MW solar power plant in Texas built by Hanwha Q CELLS in 2021

The Q CELLS Division of Hanwha Solutions (also known as Hanwha Q CELLS) announced on June 8 that it has recently signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply electricity to local energy companies after completing a 150MW solar power plant in Wyoming of the United States by the end of 2023.

This project is the first case in which Hanwha Q CELLS directly carries out the main process of a downstream project including business development involving a large solar power plant, module supply, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and the signing of a PPA.

The power plant will produce about 350 GWh of eco-friendly electricity per year. This volume is equivalent to the amount of electricity that can be used by about 390,000 Korean households for a year. The generated electricity will be supplied to electricity consumers through local energy companies. Companies that use this electricity can not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but implement RE100 to record 100 percent of electricity consumption with renewable energy.

Hanwha Q CELLS completed the construction of a 168MW solar power plant in Texas of the United States in 2021. In November of the same year, it started developing a 380 MWh energy storage system (ESS) complex in the United States, contributing to the stabilization of a local power grid.
