LG Electronics announced on Feb. 26 that it will unveil the Watch Urbane LTE at the MWC 2015 in March.

LG's new smart watch enables users to make calls over VoLTE without their smartphone and to transmit data fast, thanks to an LTE communications module. Along with the LTE version, the Korean tech giant will also roll out a standard Watch Urbane, which does not support voice communications.

The Watch Urbane LTE will also let multiple people talk at once, like a walkie-talkie. It is also possible for users to share information about their current location. The walkie-talkie feature can be used for communications between smart watches or between a smart watch and a smartphone after downloading an LTE radio app.

The new wearable watch copies a feature of the Apple Watch, which allows for a first time user to expand or reduce the screen size using the stem of the existing watches.

The LTE model features three buttons on the side for navigation and easy access to quick settings. An emergency speed-dial feature enables users to make calls and automatically send location information with just one button at the bottom of the watch.

Like the Apple Watch, LG's new smart watch facilitates NFC-based payments. It is possible to charge and make payments by touching it near an NFC-enabled terminal, owing to an NFC chip inside.

In addition, the Watch Urbane LTE has a feature capable of translating Korean to English or Japanese through voice commands. It also has features that provide information about terrain, location, direction, or heartbeats when engaged in outdoor sports like golf, cycling, and tracking, using various types of built-in censors. Those censors can function as a gyro, an accelerator, a compass, a barometer, heart beats, and a GPS tracking device.

The LTE-enabled smart watch has a metal body and a special rubber strap. There is a speaker at the top, and a microphone at the bottom of the body. It has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistant functions, which means that that it can last for up to 30 minutes under 1 meter of water.

It uses LG's own wearable platform, and can sync with smartphones running Android 4.4 KitKat or higher.
