From Feb. 24 to 25, Kolon Chairman Lee Woong-yeul visited the company's places of business in the seven regions of the central district in Korea for two days and checked the production sites in person.

Lee visited the Yeoju Bridge, a construction site of the 2nd Yeongdong Expressway that Kolon Global is building, on the morning of Feb. 24. After that, he visited the Kolon Life Science plant in Chungju and encouraged the development of Tissue Gene-C (TG-C).

TG-C is a new medicine that treats degenerative arthritis by injecting a person's normal allogeneic cartilage cells and cells with a growth factor promoting cell differentiation in the joint cavity of the knee.

Kolon Life Science is preparing for approval by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety at the end of this year.

Lee also visited Kolon Industries, Kolon Glotech, and Kolon Plastics plants in the Gumi and Gimcheon regions and checked the production sites of film, spunbond, and artificial leather.

On Feb. 25, visiting the BMW Customer Services Center in Daejeon, he encouraged its employees, who are already achieving remarkable results in the local market. Also, he visited the Kolon Industries plant in Daesan, which was completed last year, and asked for stable production and sales of petroleum resin.

In particular, Lee stressed the importance of a flexible response to environmental changes, including “Industry 4.0.”  Industry 4.0 is a new industrial production system that allows integrated management of production machinery, processes, distribution, and services by applying information communication technology to the manufacturing industry. Making manufacturing processes smarter, the main objective is to strengthen the constitution of manufacturing businesses, to find new business sectors based on it, and to create a new market.

Lee said, “When the door of changes opens, you can make a step forward if you pass through it. However, it you miss the opportunity and the door closes, you cannot go further. When the door of changes opens to us now, let’s get through it at all costs.”
