During Test Operation of Oxygen Facility
A Hyundai Rotem worker was seriously injured in an explosion of an oxygen pipe at Hyundai Steel's Dangjin Steelworks on April 27.
The employee was testing an oxygen production facility built by Hyundai Rotem at the steelworks.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the accident occurred at the construction site of Oxygen Plant No. 8 at Dangjin Steelworks. Due to the explosion, the worker was caught in flames and suffered burns on 70 percent of his body.
The ministry sent a labor inspector to the scene of the accident and issued an order to stop work, and has begun to look into the accident to find out the cause. It will check if Hyundai Rotem violated the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Act.
