Regarding the recent controversy over display models of Samsung washing machines allegedly damaged by LG executives in Germany, Samsung Electronics announced on Feb. 22 that the washing machine in question topped the lists in consumer magazines in several European countries. Also, it is not a product which would be damaged by regular tests.

Samsung Electronics said on its official blog, samsungtomorrow.com, “The product that LG Electronics’ executives vandalized during the IFA in September last year is the Crystal Blue Door Drum Washing Machine (WW9000). This product has received the highest ratings from European consumer test magazines ever since it was released.”

According to Samsung Electronics, the product, which was released in March last year, received a perfect score in the July issue of Expert Reviews in the U.K. The magazine also picked the product as the best recommended washing machine of the year.

The product also ranked 1st in Rad & Ron and Altroconsumo, which are consumer test magazines in Sweden and Italy, respectively, in October last year. IT also topped the list in Que Choisir, a French consumer association magazine, in November.

Moreover, after its launch, this product received quality certifications from the world’s most reputable certification agencies, including Nemko of Norway and VDE of Germany, after going through rigorous tests.

The ongoing vandalization scandal has seen the Seoul prosecutors indict three LG Electronics’ senior executives, including LG Electronics’ Home Appliance Division President Jo Seong-jin, on charges of deliberately damaging the Samsung Electronics’ washing machines at local retail shops during the IFA show in Berlin last September. Shortly after the announcement of the prosecution, LG Electronics posted a video of the incident on YouTube, and argued that President Jo did not damage the washing machines on purpose.
