Laptops with the Longest Battery Life

Ultra-light laptops from Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have received better evaluations than Apple’s MacBook Pro from Consumer Reports, an American nonprofit consumer organization.

Consumer Reports has selected the 2021 model-year LG Gram 17 and Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 as laptops with the longest battery life. The LG Gram 17 was selected as the laptop with the longest battery life in the 17 to 18-inch range and the Galaxy Book Pro 360 in the 12 to 13-inch range, respectively.

Consumer Reports classifies laptops into 17 and 18-inch models, 15 and 16-inch models, 14-inch models, 12 and 13-inch models and 10 and 11-inch models. Apple’s MacBook series failed to rank first in all categories.

The LG Gram 17 recorded 18 hours of web surfing and 10 hours of 4K video playback without a power connection. They were evaluated to be overwhelming among large laptops that consume a lot of power to light up a large screen. Compared to the second-placed Dell Inspiron’s web surfing time of 13 hours and 25 minutes, they are far superior.

Although the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 is a 2-in-1 (convertible) laptop, it has the longest battery life among 13-inch laptops. With 20 hours of web surfing and 12 hours of 4K playback, the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 was “an all-rounder with a powerful battery and portability,” Consumer Reports said.

LG Electronics products also stood at the highest level in the overall notebook evaluation. As of April, the LG Gram 16 (88 points) ranked first in Consumer Reports laptop evaluation, and the LG Gram 17 (86 points) took second place. The LG Gram 15 (85 points) came in third, along with the Apple MacBook Pro 16.

Industry insiders say that these honors show that LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics have firmly established themselves in the premium laptop market between Chinese-made budget laptops and Apple laptops with strong consumer loyalty.
