Software Update Not Working

Consumer complaints are continuing over the poor call quality of Galaxy S22 smartphones.

Consumer complaints are continuing over the poor call quality of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S22 smartphones.

Some Galaxy S22 users lodged complaints about poor calls on Samsung Electronics’ official community and Naver online cafés. Consumers complained that no sound was heard after a call was connected or connection dropped during calls. Some users said their Galaxy S22 smartphones did not ring even when making a call, or a missing notice appeared without ring sounds even when there was an incoming call.

On March 16, Samsung Electronics performed a software update to address the problem of poor call quality. The company said that the Galaxy S22 phones have an air passage on the periphery of the rear camera lens, which matches the internal and external pressure for waterproofing. If this passage is blocked by a phone case or protective film, noise may be heard from the upper speaker or the receiver, it explained, requesting users to remove the phone case or protective film. However, three weeks have passed since the update and some users are still complaining that call drops have not disappeared, although they have followed the instructions from Samsung Electronics.

The Galaxy S22, released in February 2022, was embroiled in controversy as Samsung Electronics made it impossible to bypass or delete the games optimizing service (GOS), which throttles performance when running certain apps such as games. In Europe, some users complained that the GPS function did not work properly in some Galaxy S22 products.
