In a press conference on Feb. 4, Standard Chartered Bank Korea President Park Jong-bok, who took office last month, said that he will make the bank the best international bank here in Korea.

Park said, “The best global bank means a bank that has an ability to not only help local residents to advance into the global market, but also help foreigners to have business opportunities in Korea. We will make sure every customer can enjoy the benefits of SC Bank’s global network.”

He added, “Making the use of SC Bank’s global network, large Korean companies, which are advancing into the global market, are using one-stop services, including trade finance, foreign exchange, and capital transactions. Now, we are planning to strengthen the services so that even small and medium-sized companies and individual customers can take advantage of our global network.”

Also, citing the Mobility Platform, which are mobile financial channels that the bank launched in July last year, as an example, he said, “Currently, Standard Chartered Bank made contracts with Korean businesses in 10 countries to manage and develop the project in order to adopt the platform developed by Korea. One of the strengths of SC Bank is to introduce the superior financial system of Korea to the global market.”

Lastly, he said, “Through various strategic partnerships, we are planning to launch Smart Banking Unit and Pop-up Desk services, which are fintech services, soon. We will enable customers to carry out banking services even on the weekend and on holidays, regardless of the business hours of the bank.”
