Tonino Lamborghini's US$6,000 smartphone is expected to be introduced to Korea in the first half of this year. High-priced imported phones haven't been sold in the nation so far, and thus the industry is paying attention to whether or not an ultra-expensive luxury phone market will be created.

According to industry sources on Jan. 26, Bluesafier Korea, which has exclusive sales rights for Lamborghini's mobile devices in the nation, is gearing up to sell the Tonino Lamborghini Tauri 88 in the country.

The company is making contact with local distributors of telecoms devices to sign an agreement for the sale of the phone, planning to sell the mobile device after the phone is certified by the government for the efficient utilization and control of radio waves.

The Tauri 88, which was unveiled in December of last year, received a lot of attention at CES 2015 in Las Vegas in early January. This phone was made to commemorate the birth year of Tonino Lamborghini, the son of Ferruccio Lamborghini. A total of 1,947 units per model are going to be sold worldwide. There are 8 models by color, and 1,500 units will be sold in the country. They will come in metal and gold. Metal models will be sold at US$6,000 and gold ones at US$6,300. The two models are going to be primarily sold at department stores for luxury brands.

The technical specifications of the new phone are similar to those of the Galaxy S5. They will sport a 5 inch screen, 3 GB of RAM, 2.3 GHz processor, 64 GB memory, 20 megapixel rear camera, and a 3400 mAh battery. The phone will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat. People will be able to use the phone by inserting a Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) of a certain mobile carrier into the phone, after purchasing a terminal with a USIM.

The name of the smartphone was chosen to commemorate the company' founder and namesake, Tonino Laborghini. Tonino is the son of Ferruccio Lamborghini, who made the car company of the same name.
